Atashnaa's Area Road Update for NEderland

22:29 Sep 15 2013 Nederland Area Egress

Description
Atashnaa Medicine Shield
As of this early evening:
Magnolia Road conditions
#97 between Magnolia Rd and #72 is not totally closed. Near the top is tape because of the deceivingly looking 3’ deep mud holes and ruts. You can get around them. At the bottom water and gravel is across the road. Take the exit to the left.
From #119 very rutted, wash-boarded, deep mud and potholes, road flooding, and small sinkholes in spots.
Gilpin Updates
Highway 72 is closed past Pinecliffe
South Beaver Creek Rd may be closed from (605 SBC Rd) now due to flooding.
Golden Gate Canyon remains closed from Robinson Hill Road to #93. Road may be open at times but expect long wait times due to blasting to mitigate rockslides.
PLEASE NOTE...#119 to Black Hawk to #6 to #93 and Central City Parkway to I-70 REMAIN OPEN. However, there may be delays on #6 due to traffic volume and road work.
Town of Nederland:
9/15 Update from Town Administrator, Alisha Reis:
Barker Reservoir is among the lakes and reservoirs throughout the county that are at or near capacity, with water pouring over the spillway. This is a normal function for the reservoirs under these conditions. The dams and spillways are functioning as designed. Seeing water in the spillway is normal during times of heavy rainfall or runoff. Do not go near barker dam or the reservoir at this time
In addition to the updates we have been posting to the Town Web site:
- Water and Wastewater Treatment continues to be fine, even with much elevated levels of water flowing through both plants.
- Water supply continues to be clean and readily available. Still, it would be a good precaution to fill jugs with water especially if power goes out.
- Police and Sheriffs continue to urge people not to drive at all, in order to assess damage and to continue search/rescue efforts (and not to create any additional).
- Most logistics are working through the EOC and Police/Fire here in Town.

‘Even if you can get down Boulder Canyon, they don't want you too. They are trying to manage emergency conditions. Stay out of the flood damaged areas and let the emergency crews and repair crews do their work. Everyone is stir crazy and may want to see firsthand what it looks like down in town. We have appointments and jobs, etc. down there, but remember everything has been disrupted and there is a good chance business won't be conducted as usual anyway’
